How Snow Forms
Snow forms when water vapor in the air changes directly from a gas into tiny ice crystals. These crystals can join together to create larger snowflakes. When snowflakes grow heavy enough, they can fall from clouds to the ground without being held up by rising air. If they do not melt on the way down, they reach the ground as snow, creating a snowy landscape that can be soft and fun for people to enjoy.
